Program Description
The goal of this training is to provide educators and others working with youth knowledge of teen dating violence and resources that provide evidence-based solutions to prevent primary, secondary, and tertiary teen dating violence.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to:
- Identify examples of teen dating violence.
- Identify how teen development affects teen dating violence and consequences of teen dating violence.
- Identify risk factors, protective factors, warning signs, and challenges for seeking help for teen dating violence.
- Compare and contrast healthy and unhealthy relationship characteristics and behaviors.
- Identify ways educators can be a resource to students regarding teen dating violence.
- Describe skill development so educators feel empowered to take action – if / when needed.
- Explain how this teen dating violence prevention training will impact educators.

Target Audience
Educators, Other youth violence prevention professionals.
Prerequisites
The target audience for Dating Matters is middle and high school educators. A secondary audience is all others who work with youth and play a role in teen dating violence prevention. It is important that users of this training work regularly with youth in a school or other setting. However, parents, administrators and other caring adults can also benefit from taking this course. There are no prerequisite skills needed.
