PRINCIPLES OF PREVENTION (POP)

Continuing Education and
Certificate of Completion.

Principles of Prevention (POP) is available online 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

You can take the course whenever it is convenient.

How the course works:

Plan on 90 uninterrupted minutes to complete the 5 training modules included in POP plus registration and the required course evaluation. Once you have completed the course you will be directed to the CDC website for both the registration and the evaluation.

You can pause the course at any time, but please DO NOT LOG OFF OR CLOSE YOUR BROWSER. If you log off or close the browser at any time during the training, your registration will be lost and you will need to begin again.

You will need to work from a computer with Internet access and, if possible, volume controls. ( The training takes advantage of narration and video.)

This course is 508 compliant and is accessible to anyone with a disability.

Getting started:

  1. You will study POP by accessing the training modules in order because the concepts build on one another. As soon as you complete any module, however, you will be able to return to review information in any order you like.
  2. Once you have finished all Four (4) Modules, you will be able to open Module 5, the "POP Quiz."
  3. You are required to complete all the "POP Quiz" questions in at least one of the five areas of violence... your choice!
  4. Upon completion, we will let you know how many questions you answered correctly so you can choose if you would like to:
    • Return to any of the modules to review the information again
    • Select another area of violence to complete additional exercises
    • Link directly to CDC to finish the continuing education process or to receive your certificate of completion. Before you receive credit, you will be required to complete a short survey about the Principles of Prevention
  5. Upon completion of the survey, you can either return to Veto Violence or simply log off.
  6. If you have further questions, please email vetoviolence@cdc.gov.
