Full description:
Achievement Mentoring (AM) seeks to prevent juvenile delinquency, substance abuse and academic failure through school-based intervention for high-risk youth. This two-year program is supported by teachers, parents and individuals, and helps students understand that their actions can bring about desired consequences. AM promotes a school environment where appropriate behavior is rewarded. Staff members hold regular meetings with students to evaluate their progress and role-play alternatives to disruptive behaviors and promote healthier choices. Progress reports and disciplinary actions are shared with parents so that the child receives support and structure at school and home.
