Full description:
The Boys and Girls Clubs Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach approach seeks to reduce gang involvement by offering at-risk youth alternative activities. This community-wide effort connects young people with positive adults and operates through a local network of community representatives from agencies, schools, courts, law enforcement and social service organizations. The primary goal of this program is to provide healthy social activities that satisfy youth interests, and meet social and physical needs. During the first year of participation, youth have a counselor who evaluates and tracks their progress as they integrate into normal club activities.
