Approach Search
The goal of this tool is help select strategies and approaches as part of planning your comprehensive prevention efforts. In order to have the most impact, you should select strategies and approaches that address the risk and protective factors that you and your partners prioritized and best fit with your community. It’s important to keep in mind that selecting strategies and approaches that impact multiple levels of the social ecology will help you achieve greater and lasting reductions in violence. Finally, working together with other sectors in your community can help ensure a more comprehensive approach to prevention.
This tool allows you to search by type of violence and/or specific strategy. Note that you can only select one type of violence and one strategy at a time. If you want to start your search over again, use the “Clear All” option at the top of the search categories. There are a number of approaches that impact multiple types of violence. We have combined information from the different Resources for Action in the approaches to reflect multiple impacts, where applicable. For example, organizational environments can be improved to prevent sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and suicide. The approach summary highlights information from these three Resources for Action.
Strategies lay out the direction or actions to achieve the goal of preventing violence.
Approaches are the specific ways of advancing a given strategy – accomplished through programs, practices, and policies.
