Familias Unidas is a family-based intervention for Hispanic families with children ages 12-17. This program focuses on preventing conduct problems, substance abuse, and risky sexual behaviors among youth by improved family functioning. A trained facilitator uses culturally specific models and delivers Familias Unidas through multi-parent groups. These weekly interactive sessions address effective parenting skills and seek to increase the role of parents in protecting their adolescent from potential harm.
