Full description:
Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) provides specialized services to low-income, first-time pregnant mothers. Primary objectives of the program address substance abuse problems and other behaviors that influence family deprivation, subsequent pregnancies and poor maternal and child outcomes. Licensed nurses help mothers set achievable goals for managing caretaking demands and becoming financially independent. During pregnancy, nurses educate mothers about self-care to ensure a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Once the child is born, NFP nurses provide coaching on breastfeeding, diaper changing, and basic child development and care.
