Full description:
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, designed for elementary and middle schools, targets the problem of bullying at three levels: school, classroom, and individual. The school level components include assessment of the nature and frequency of bullying in the school, formation of a committee to coordinate the prevention program, and works with staff to develop a system to ensure adult supervision of students outside the classroom. Classroom components include defining and enforcing rules against bullying, group discussions, and activities reinforcing anti-bullying values and norms. This component also requires active parent involvement. Individual components include interventions with students who have a history of bullying and/or victimization.
